Jason Risse of North Lincoln High School is January’s McDonald’s / KTC Broadcasting/ What’s Up Shopper Scholar Athlete of the Month. Jason is a Senior at North Lincoln. His parents are John and Dawn Risse. Jason runs Cross Country and is a four year state qualifier. He also runs winter and spring track. Jason has a GPA of 4.423. His advanced courses include English IV Honors, Writing and Inquiry, Principals of Micro-Economics, Music Appreciation along with three Gaston College Courses. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, The Beta Club, The National Honor Society and is a lifeguard at Sally’s YMCA. A member of Denver United Methodist Church he helps with the Lincolnton Soup Kitchen and is a volunteer for Operation Christmas Child.


The McDonalds/ KTC Broadcasting /What’s Up Shopper Scholar Athlete Award is to recognize a student athlete not only for accomplishments in athletics but also for overall achievement in the classroom and overall school and community citizenship.


SETH ALEX WILLIS

Seth Alex Willis of West Lincoln is February’s McDonald’s/ KTC Broadcasting/ What’s Up Shopper Scholar Athlete of the Month. Willis is the son of Teena and Rodney Willis. He plays basketball and is the quarterback and defensive back on the football team. Seth also pitches for the West Lincoln baseball team. He has a grade point average of 4.375. His advanced courses include English and Math at Gaston College. Seth is a Little League umpire. A member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church he serves at a local soup kitchen. After graduation he plans to attend college and major in Engineering and Business.

The McDonald's / KTC Broadcasting / What's Up Shopper Scholar Athlete Award is sponsored by the McDonald's Restaurants in Shelby and Kings Mountain, WOHS Radio and The What's Up Shopper.  The purpose of the award is to recognize a student athlete not only for accomplishments in athletics but also for achievements in the classroom and for overall school and community citizenship.
